AI Innovation Challenge:

In collaboration with EG, a leading technology innovator, InUnity presents the EG Challenge, an open AI challenge for students and experienced IT professionals. This exciting opportunity invites participants to tackle a real-world AI problem statement provided by EG and brainstorm solutions. Regional demo days will be held for participants to showcase their solutions, with the top 3 teams from each region advancing to the Grand Finale. The 12 finalists will then gather at EG’s Mangalore campus to present their ideas to company professionals. Top performers will be offered internship and employment opportunities at EG, fostering the future of AI alongside a leader in the field.

Challenge & Team Formation

    Registration: Teams can register for the challenge and can form collaboratively or work individually depending on the program guidelines.

    Challenge Exploration: Teams can get the problem statement provided by EG which is on the website.

    Solution Development: Teams actively work on building their solutions based on the challenge.

Stage 2

    Teams must physically present their solutions to a panel for selection.
    Top 3 teams from each region will be selected to the Grand Finale.
    Teams will get an opportunity to Interact with EG representatives and networking opportunities.

    Top 12 winning teams from all regions present their solutions to the EG team at the Grand Finale in EG Premises, Mangalore.
    Announcement of winners and award ceremony.
    An opportunity to get a paid internship at EG with the potential for permanent employment, starting at 6 LPA.

Problem Statement for the
Innovation Challenge

Legacy systems built using outdated technologies such as Delphi, Cobol, VB, etc., pose significant challenges for organisations in terms of maintenance, scalability, and integration with modern systems. The process of migrating these legacy codebases to modern technologies like C#, Java, Python, etc., requires substantial effort, time, and resources. Additionally, ensuring the correctness, efficiency, and reliability of the migrated code is crucial to the success of the transition.

While manual code migration is possible, it is often error-prone, time-consuming, and costly. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and automated code analysis presents an opportunity to streamline and automate the migration process. AI can help analyse the legacy codebase, understand its functionality, identify patterns, and generate corresponding code in the target modern technology.

The challenge for this code byte is to develop innovative AI-driven solutions that facilitate the migration of legacy code frameworks (e.g., Delphi, Cobol, VB) into modern technologies (e.g., C#, Java, Python). Participants are tasked with creating tools, algorithms, or frameworks that can efficiently and accurately translate legacy codebases while preserving functionality, performance, and maintainability.

Key Objectives

  • Develop AI-based algorithms or models capable of analysing legacy codebases written in languages like Delphi, Cobol, VB, etc.
  • Develop AI-based tools that can create documentation of existing codebase and their logic e.g., classes, variables, dependencies, and functionality.
  • Implement automated tools or frameworks that can translate legacy code into modern languages such as C#, Java, Python, etc., while ensuring correctness and efficiency.
  • Ensure the generated code maintains the functionality, performance, and readability of the original legacy codebase.
  • Provide solutions that are scalable, adaptable, maintainable , testable, and customizable to accommodate various legacy code scenarios.
  • Demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of AI-driven approaches in accelerating the migration process and reducing manual effort.

Participants are encouraged to explore innovative techniques, incorporate machine learning models, utilise existing AI libraries, and experiment with different strategies to address the complexities of legacy code migration. The goal is to produce practical and robust solutions that enable organisations to modernise their systems efficiently and effectively.
